Grailz LIVE: LIVE INTERVIEWS WITH THE BIGGEST NAMES IN THE COMIC BOOK WORLD!

Matt Perry

Grailz Comix Co - Founder, Creative Director, Primary Grader.

Like many other kids growing up in the 1980’s and 90’s , Matt grew up reading comics and drawing superheroes in Dorchester, Ma . After finding old comic books lying around the house, he was hooked. Soon he learned that new comic books could be bought at the corner store down the street. After seeing all of the titles available on the spinner racks, he began to figure out ways to collect as many comics as possible. As time went on, Matt also discovered a local comic book shop in a nearby town that had a “Gold and SIlver Age Wall” . He couldn't believe the prices on some of these books. Over time he developed a small collection and would check conditions and prices of his collection in the Overstreet Price Guide and Wizard Magazine. After taking a break from comic collecting, Matt came across his comic collection upon returning from serving in the U.S. Marines in 2008 and dove right back into collecting. Over time Matt began to sell books on E-Bay and has also set up at local Comic-Conventions for years. Some highlights of his collection are a full run of Amazing Spider Man issues 1 through 700, every major Silver Age Marvel 1st appearance, and the first comic book he remembers ever reading, a coverless copy of Amazing Spider-Man 316. In a twist of fate, Matt also ended up buying his copy of Amazing Fantasy 15 by chance one morning when he walked into the same comic shop he used to visit as a kid. It was right there on the wall in the “Gold and Silver Age Room”. Matt first met AJ while haggling over the prices of an Iron Man 55 and Marvel Premiere 47 he had for sale on Facebook, and the rest is Grailz history. Like the rest of the Grailz Team, Matt is dedicated to providing the same joy he has found through collecting comics to as many people as possible.

Gio Molina

Director, Sales / Business Development

From the age of 5, Giovanni was surrounded by Comic Book culture. Batman costume for Halloween. Secret Wars and Super Friends toys. Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends on tv.  A passion for reading and drawing led him to comics. He first discovered them through the supermarket packs in the late 80’s and spinner racks at bookstores in the mall. In 1989 the family moved to west Hollywood, FL, three blocks away from Super-Heroes Unlimited, his first LCS. It was here that he would spend hours looking at back issues, wall books, and graphic novels. A whole new world opened up, and he wanted to learn all about it. Soon he was in the shop every week, collecting flagship titles like Amazing Spider-Man, X-Men, and Batman, but also interested in all the new titles from Image, Valiant, and Vertigo. Through the years since, he’s collected various eras and many independent publishers. In recent years, he’s developed a deep appreciation of Bronze and Silver Age Marvel. He’s attended San Diego and New York Comic-Con many times. He is an avid fan of the MCU. A CGC Authorized Dealer, Giovanni has taken a strong interest in grading and tracking values and trends. He still maintains a weekly pull list. Whether it’s attending Cons, reading old storylines, picking up a new graphic novel, or following the YouTube speculation world, he is immersed in the hobby every single day. With an extensive Ad Sales and Marketing background, Giovanni took to selling Comics across various platforms. The economics of the hobby had always peaked his interest, and with the explosion of online selling he found his niche. He came in contact with AJ and Matt via IG. Over time, they established a strong rapport and as the page grew, it was a natural fit for him to join the team.

AJ Weiss

Co-Founder , Grailz Team Member Emeritus

AJ Weiss, MBA

Co- Founder @grailzcomix, VP Sales/Talent Relations

Former Grailz Team Member and Grailz Comix Co Founder AJ’s love of collecting started when he was 8 years old.. A Baltimore native, AJ was given a few free Superman comics at  his elementary schools “baseball card club” - the club was run by the schools head janitor! From there he began hitting the newsstands and discovering all the classic 90’s Marvel,  DC, Valiant and Image titles. Things escalated quickly; and long boxes started filling as AJ discovered some of Baltimore’s LCS’s and local conventions run by Geppi Industries. Digging through dollar bins;  AJ became hooked on early Silver Age books and put together an impressive collection of raw comics while also amassing an equally extensive collection of Vintage Star Wars figures. Upon relocating to New Jersey, AJ sold off a large portion of his collections and pursued other interests for the next 10 years. As fate would have it,  browsing Facebook Marketplace during the early part of the Covid pandemic led AJ to a renewed discovery of the hobby. With his entrepreneurial spirit and business background he saw a gap in the Instagram Comic Marketplace and “InstaGrailz” was born. AJ’s first Grailz sale was convincing his new friend Matt to become his business partner.. and the rest is Grailz History!
